Remembering in Color

This memorial day I have been reflecting much on the people I have loved so deeply in my life whom I've lost. It's interesting because the reason I named this blog what I did, "Shades of Deja" is because for every person I've lost, a specific color reminds me of them, either it was their favorite color or I had a memory with them and their color. These "colors" (people) in my life have shaped me to become who I am. Here is my colorful tribute to those I have added to my rainbow of life.

Dennis R. Powell - Orange

The color orange so bright and energizing --like you. A quiet favorite for many and a beacon of brightness in an otherwise dark world--like you. The first shade of sunset, going down to quietly and beautifully--like you.

Grandma Mary Lou Jones Davis - Purple

The color purple, soft and feminine, yet hopeful and fierce -- like you. Purple is associated with wisdom, dignity, independence, creativity, mystery, and magic -- like you. Royalty--like you!

Grandpa Kenneth Davis - Yellow

Yellow, the sunshine of the day, the color of joy, energy and hope--like you. Yellow is seen before other colors, it stand out against an otherwise dark world--like you. Hope and joy is yellow--and you! Like the yellow roses you brought me every Thursday on our date night, magical--like you.

My dear, young friends...Stacy, Becky and Nicole - Blue

Blue symbolizes trust, loyalty, wisdom, confidence, intelligence, faith, truth, and heaven -- like you! The color of serenity and peace, faith and freedom -- like you!

Somewhere over the rainbow
Skies are blue
And the dreams that you dare to dream
Really do come true
